Wade or Drift Fishing

Slip over the side of the Beavertail into the cool waste-deep water, while the eastern sky is an orange glow. Cast your lure toward the sun as it breaks the horizon, reel it back slowly with a twitch or two, and BAM the fight is on. The trout dances on the surface all the while attempting to throw the hook. You bring it in close to be scooped up in the net. That is No. 1 on the stringer. What a great day it will be. Quality rods, reels and lures will be included. All you need to supply are your wading boots, wading gear and waders depending on the water temperature, and feel free to bring your personal tackle. If wading does not appeal to your party, we can drift or anchor the backlakes, reefs, sloughs and flats surrounding Port O’Connor. Casting soft plastic lures or shrimp under a rattle cork are preferred methods on a drift. When anchored, live finfish are very effective freelined or fished on the bottom.Redfish and trout are the primary targets, but occasionally we will catch good-eating black drum, sheepshead and flounder. Shark and jack crevalle can also be fished for while drifting, though they are catch-and-release only. Fish cleaning and bagging included at the end of the trip.
